Sonos Amp vs. Sonos Port
What’s the main difference?
Both the Sonos Amp and Sonos Port allow you to bring your third-party HiFi into the Sonos App, however, the Amp can also power your existing speakers whereas the Port cannot.
That means the Port needs to connect to an already-existing amplifier as it is simply a wireless streamer.
The Amp can actually replace any amplifier you have, reducing space and increasing the smart features of your set-up.
Note: you will only need the Sonos Amp or Port if you are using third-party audio equipment. The Sonos wireless range is self-amplified and speakers just plug into mains power.
