Types of Ceiling Speaker

As with anything, ceiling speakers come in all shapes and sizes too. We’ve listed some of the most common factors/terms that you might come across in-ceiling speaker descriptions.

A single speaker with 2 tweeters that are set up as a left and right

Active Ceiling Speakers that are already powered and just require connection to mains power Projects on limited budgets. Projects in which access behind the ceiling to run cables is limited. Lithe Audio range
Passive The most common option. Will need to be powered by a separate amplifier. Extensions, renovations, new builds with access to the ceiling to run cable All ceiling speakers mentioned above except for Lithe Audio.

It’s also possible to purchase most ceiling speakers with either a round grill or square grill to match the aesthetics in your room.

All ceiling speakers are provided with a white grill as standard that can be spray-painted with water-based paint to match the colour of your ceiling.
