Are the Sonos In-Ceiling speakers worth it?
Sonos in-ceiling speakers make a great pairing with the Sonos Amp and ensures you will maximise the potential of each component.
The Sonos Amp knows when a pair of Sonos in-ceiling speakers have been installed on it as it will send a sine wave down the cable and measure the response. This will then unlock TruePlay tuning so you can acoustically optimise the ceiling speakers for the room and environment they are in. This tuning process is not available with other brands of ceiling speaker and can be toggled on and off to hear the difference (iOS device required).
The Sonos in-ceiling speakers also come with a fully pivotable driver up to 30 degrees which is ideal if you’d like to install them on a vaulted ceiling or would like to angle the sound towards a desired position.
As they are very well made, they can be listened to at all volumes comfortably and retain a very clean sound signature.
Having said this, the Sonos in-ceiling speakers are not required for all installs. If you are mainly using the speakers for ambient background listening, there are more cost-effective models available which will pair with the Sonos Amp nicely. We would recommend the Sonos speakers for mid-range listening and above, providing budget allows.
