Smart TV Platforms

There are lots of smart tv platforms available, so it's worth knowing what native apps and features you'll be able to access on your TV before making a purchase decision.

What is a Smart TV platform?

Most modern TVs will have a Smart TV platform of some type. This is the home interface you first access when you turn the TV on, allowing you to choose from various native apps and services directly from the TV without needing to connect to an external source.

Depending on the TV you have, the Smart TV platform might be able to integrate with voice assistant services like Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant or Siri.

What Smart TV platforms are available?

Google TV

Most 2021 and later Sony screens use the Google TV interface. This is widely considered one of the best-operating platforms available for TVs and offers many of the most popular apps straight from the TV's home screen. Google TV will also fully integrate with Google Assistant, allowing you to voice control your TV from the remote control.

Samsung Smart TV

Samsung favours their own Smart TV platform across their 2021 and later models. This uses Samsung's own Tizen OS for speedy loading and navigation and keeps all of your favourite apps available for use at first launch.
