Why is viewing angle important?
Depending on the size of your room and where you’re planning on installing your TV, you may benefit from a TV that performs well for off-angle viewing.
Due to the way traditional edge-lit TVs are lit, they don’t perform so well when viewed from an angle because the direction in which they are backlit causes the picture to become hazy when not viewed head-on. Full-Array TVs alleviate this issue somewhat, as they are fully backlit across the whole panel.
OLED TVs will perform the best at off-centre angles as each pixel is individually lit, meaning there is no hazy or muddled cast on the screen when viewed from the side. QLEDs and Neo-QLEDs will also outperform LED screens at off-angle viewing, with the latter being better at this than the former.
To alleviate off-angle viewing issues, some screens have X-Wide Viewing Angle technology inbuilt.
