LED - Stands for ‘light emitting diode’. LED (LED-LCD) TV’s offer a range of backlighting technologies including: Direct LED, Edge LED, and Mini-LED. (🤫 Don’t worry, we’ll get into this below).

Edge LED: What it says on the tin. Edge LED’s use LED’s around the edges of the screen to light up the picture. They’re slim, affordable, and use less power.

However, black colours might not be as deep, and picture quality may vary depending on your viewing angle. Great for casual viewers in well-lit rooms, but consider other options if picture quality is your top priority! 👀

Direct LED: This screen type allows for more precise control of the backlight, which can result in better picture quality, especially in terms of contrast and black levels.

However, Direct LED TVs tend to be thicker and more expensive than edge LED’s for example. 🥹

OLED: An OLED (Organic-Light-Emitting-Diode) screen allows each tiny pixel to light up on its own, creating super vibrant colours and the deepest blacks you've ever seen. ⬛️

Think super slim design, incredible picture quality, and a movie theatre experience at home. The downside? It can be a bit pricier than regular TVs, and they aren’t quite as bright as LEDs (so not ideal for a super bright room.)

QLED: This screen takes regular LED TVs up a notch with tiny "quantum dots" that create a wider range of colours.

Imagine a normal TV, but with richer, more lifelike colours, especially brighter whites and deeper reds. It's slimmer than most TVs and delivers pretty impressive picture quality. 🤩

However, it's not quite as perfect as OLED in terms of blacks and might not be the best choice for super budget-conscious buyers. Think of it as a step up from regular LED 📈 without quite reaching the peak of OLED!

QNED: Now imagine a TV that combines the best of QLED with deep dark contrast! That's a QNED screen.

It uses tiny "quantum dots" like QLED for vibrant colours 🔴, but also throws in special "NanoCell" tech to improve black levels and brightness. Think of it as a more affordable version of OLED with pretty good picture quality, especially for bright rooms. It's not the absolute top-of-the-line, but it offers a nice balance of features and price for many viewers! ✨

Mini-LED: Think of a Mini LED screen like a supercharged LED TV! 👌

Instead of big, chunky backlights, it uses tons of tiny LED lights, like mini stars. This lets them dim or brighten super precisely, creating deeper blacks, brighter whites, and more vibrant colors than regular LEDs.

Imagine a sharper, richer picture, almost like looking through a window into the scene. However, Mini LED TVs can be pricier than regular LEDs - so, while they offer amazing picture quality, be prepared to invest a bit more! 💰

QD-OLED: Donned the Super-Hero of TV’s 🦹 It combines the best of both worlds:

OLED it has self-illuminating pixels for amazing blacks and incredible contrast.

Quantum Dot (QD) uses special technology to boost colours, making them even richer and more lifelike than regular TVs. There’s also a boost in brightness, making them bright than regular OLEDS. 🌟

The result? A stunning picture with deep blacks, bright whites, and vibrant colours that jump off the screen. It's super slim and delivers the absolute best picture quality available today. However, be prepared for a superhero-sized price tag!

8K TV: Packs in a whopping 33 million pixels - making everything incredibly sharp and lifelike. However, there's not much content available in 8K yet, and the TVs themselves are pretty expensive. 😬

So, it's more of a future-proof choice for someone who values top-notch picture quality and isn't limited by budget or content availability.
