EXPLAINED: Sony's TV Technology

Have you ever wondered what an XR Contrast Booster is and if you need one? More than likely, if you're searching through the latest and greatest TV's in the Sony range.

But what is Sony's Motion Flow technology? And do I really need the Sony Cognative XR Processor?

We've answered these questions below and explained some of Sony's more advanced TV terminology.

Let’s start with the brains of the organisation: The processor.

What’s a processor? A TV processor is like the brain of your TV! It controls everything you see and do, from making pictures look sharper to switching between apps smoothly. Just like a faster computer runs better, a better processor means your TV will be snappier, handle high-quality content easier, and give you a smoother overall experience.

4K Processor X1™: Featured in all of Sony’s entry level TV’s, this processor works to Sharpen blurry images, making everything you watch look crisp and detailed, even if it's not originally in 4K. Its also excellent at reducing noise like grain, so pictures appear smooth and natural. Lastly it boosts colour and contrast for richer, more lifelike visuals, especially in HDR content.

Cognitive Processor XR: Think of the Sony Cognitive Processor XR as a super-smart brain for your TV. It doesn't just process things like regular processors, it actually learns and analyses content like the human brain! This means it can adjust:

Picture: Sharper details, richer colours, and more natural depth, focusing on what matters most, just like your eyes do.

Sound: Placing sounds exactly where they should be, like a jet overhead or whispers behind you, for a truly immersive experience.

It's like having a built-in director enhancing everything you watch and listen to, making it feel more real and exciting!

Right, now we’re all up to date with the processor let’s take a look at the picture.

X-Motion Clarity (Also known as XR-Motion clarity) - ✨ The evolution of MotionFlow XR ✨ Keeping everything smooth, bright and clear! X-Motion Clarity solves blur in fast scenes without losing virtually any brightness. However unlike MotionFlow XR this feature is built into the processor to enhance the content without you needing to lift a finger. 💅

XR OLED Motion - Built into the Cognitive XR Processor, this super cool motion technolgy spots key objects in each frame and compares them to the next frame to see how they move. It then creates new frames in between, making the movement smoother.

Think of it like adding extra pages to a flipbook for a more fluid animation. 📕
