Sonos App Tour S2 - A new look
The Sonos app is a crucial part of your Sonos experience. Here, you can stream music from your favourite music streaming services, save favourites, group or ungroup rooms, search for new content and customise your Sonos system.
Home Page
Think of this page as your Sonos homepage where you can save all of your favourite playlists, radio stations, artists, tracks and more for quick access to the content you love.
You have a tab at the very bottom which you can select to show Now Playing - as well as seeing more (but we’ll get into that later.)
There’s also a helpful search bar at the bottom where you can search albums, artists, genres, playlists, podcasts or radio stations.
You can see;
- Recently Played
- Your Services (music services)
- Sonos Favourites
- Recently Added
- Discover Sonos Radio
System Settings
Access System Settings by selecting the cog in the top right hand corner of the screen.
You can then see ‘You System’ which shows your products and allows you to add a speaker or component.
You can also visit the Help Centre too.
System:
When you select ‘Your system’ you can see all of the different ‘Rooms’ or ‘groupings’.
You can select the speaker button to ‘group’ or ‘ungroup’ speakers - and there’s a volume control under each grouping.
Top tip: To control the volume of individual speakers within a group, select the group on this page then the room name at the bottom of the page that pops up.
Individual Speaker Settings
The individual speaker settings allow a lot of different customisation.
Name: Allows you to change the room name of the speaker, choose your own name or pick one of the listed names like Bathroom, Bedroom, TV room etc.
Product: Select the speaker to enable or disable WiFi, see if the Microphone is On or Off & on portable products you can view the battery % too. You can also see if the speaker’s connected by Bluetooth or not for compatible products.
Set up a Stereo Pair: For eligible products you can set-up a stereo pair. You would need 2x of the same model speaker (SL versions count as the same) for one to be a dedicated left and one to be a dedicated right. This allows for a more ‘true-to-life’ performance.
Connect a Sub: Give you the ability to add a Subwoofer (dependent on the speaker).
Set up surrounds: For compatible soundbars you’re able to level up the home cinema experience by adding surround sound speakers here.
Height audio: Adjust the height channel audio level during playback of immersive audio formats.
EQ: Fine tune the bass or Treble. Bass: adjusts the lower frequency sounds, such as bass, or a kick drum. Treble: Adjusts the higher frequency sounds, such as guitar or vocals. Loudness: Boosts certain frequencies, including bass, during low listening volumes. This is designed to compensate for normal changes in the ear’s sensitivity when listening to audio at low volumes.
Volume Limit: Set’s the maximum allowed volume.
Search
The search now appears at the bottom of the home page, so you can quickly look up your favourite tunes! It’ll show your services and your search history.
