How do I factory reset my Sonos speaker?

Recommended if you're transferring a Sonos product to a new owner, or if your Sonos device failed to be found during its initial set-up. You may also need to do this if you transfer over to a new Wi-Fi network (though you should just be able to hit the 'lets fix' button in your system.

**Disclaimer! ** Resetting all of your Sonos devices will permanently erase your Sonos system data, including registration details, My Sonos preferences and information on your music streaming services.

How to Factory Reset All Sonos Products (Except Move & Roam & Era 100/300)

Disconnect your Sonos product from the mains.

Locate, press and continue hold the Join button and re-establish mains power.

Continue holding-down the Join button; after 15-30 seconds the status light will eventually flash orange and white. You can now release the Join button.

The status light will slow flash green once complete - the product has been successfully factory reset.

💡  If your Sonos product doesn’t have a Join button, either press Play/Pause or the Mute button instead.

Factory Reset Sonos Roam/SL

Locate,  press and hold the power button on the rear of the Sonos Roam. It will power-off after 5-seconds with an audible chime. Release the power button.

Hold-down Play/Pause, then press and release the power button of the Roam.

Continue holding Play/Pause; the status light will eventually flash orange and white.

Release Play/Pause and wait for the light to flash green - the process is now complete.

Factory Reset Sonos Move/2

Lift the Move off its charging base.

Locate, press and hold the power button on the rear of the Move; it will turn off with an audible chime. Release the power button

Hold-down the Join button whilst pressing and releasing the power button.

Continue holding the Join button for the status light to slow flash orange and white.

The status light will slow flash green once the factory reset process is complete.

Factory Reset Era 100 & 300

Unplug the power cord.

Press and hold the Bluetooth button while reconnecting the power cord.

Continue holding the button until the light on the front begins flashing orange and white.

The light will flash green when the process is complete and the product is ready to be set up.


Although rare, if your Sonos device glitches and you need to restart it in place of performing a full factory reset, try Reboot your Sonos Product instead.
