Using an Amazon Alexa product to control Sonos
This guide helps set up an Amazon Echo or Dot to control Sonos products. For voice-enabled Sonos speakers, follow the steps highlighted in Set-up Alexa on Voice-enabled Sonos Speakers.
Set up Alexa for Sonos on an Amazon Echo or Dot
Before attempting the following steps, ensure you have done the following:

Download the Alexa app and ensure your Alexa device is set up.

Make sure your Sonos system is up and running with the latest software.
Once the above has been completed, follow the steps below:
Enabling the Sonos Skill

Open the Sonos app on an iOS or Android device.

Select Settings, then press Services & Voices.

Choose 'Add a Service', select Amazon Alexa and then Add Alexa

You’ll be directed to the Alexa app for the next steps

Click Enable, then follow the on-screen prompts in the app.
Search for Sonos Devices via the Alexa App
- The Alexa app will ask you to Discover Devices once the Alexa skill has been enabled.
- This process enables Alexa to learn the names you’ve given to your Sonos devices.
Search for Music Services on Alexa
A large number of Alexa-compatible music services are available to view in the Alexa app. These can be accessed by opening the Alexa app by following these steps.

Press Link New Service and select from the list of available services.

You can choose a default service in the Default Services section.
